Bishop Dr. Hixford N. Allen

Senior Pastor

Bishop Dr. Hixford Allen is the Senior Pastor of the Bronxwood International Church of God and a well renowned, credentialed Christian educator. He was born in Manchester, Jamaica West Indies. He made a personal commitment of his life to the Lord Jesus in June 1980 and has been faithfully and passionately engaged in Ministry and Christian service since. Bishop Allen received his B.A. degree in Theological Studies from the Jamaica Theological Seminary in Kingston Jamaica; a M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology from Caribbean Graduate School of Theology, Kingston, Jamaica; and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Bishop Allen has been engaged in pastoral ministry from January 1987 to present. Over the period, he has served as pastor for three congregations (The Duhaney Park New Testament Church of God and The Bethel New Testament Church of God, both in Kingston, Jamaica and The True Life Church of God in Wyandanch, New York). While serving as pastor in Jamaica, Bishop Allen also served as guest speaker and bible teacher, at the New Testament Church of God yearly youth camps; lecturer and dean at Bethel Bible College, Kingston campus; and as teacher/guidance counselor at Jamaica College High School in Kingston, Jamaica.

Bishop Allen and his family migrated to the United States in August 1996, and after a short stay at Eastchester Church of God, he continued his pastoral ministry at True life Church of God from January 1997. Under Bishop Allen’s leadership the True Life Church of God experienced steady growth in just about every area of the church, and the District of churches he supervised grew from four congregations to eight congregations, with the True Life Church of God being instrumental in launching two of those congregations. He was later appointed District Overseer for the New York Church of God District 24 in September 2005 where he served until his appointment to Senior Pastor of the Bronxwood International Church of God in October 2020.

Bishop Allen’s is a humble and caring servant of the Lord whose strength lies in his God given ability to preach and teach the word of God, as well as mentoring and coaching young ministers and prospects for ministry. A primary goal of Bishop Allen is to guide the church toward making disciples who are internally motivated to serve the Lord and His church,  be able to “feed” themselves and others, and  be able to use their gifts to participate in the mission of God.

Bishop Allen is married to his wife Doreen for over 45 years, and she has been his partner in ministry over the years. Their union produced four sons: Raoul, Andre, Mark and Theophilus, all of whom have also share in their ministry. Doreen, Andre and Theophilus are credential ministers with the Church of God.  Bishop Allen is presently working on a book entitled, ‘Building Cities of Refuge’.

Church and Pastor's Council

The word “deacon” is derived from the Greek word diakonos, which is a standard ancient Greek word meaning “servant”, “waiting-man”, “minister” or “messenger”.

They strive to help the community in spirit and practice. A welcome addition to our organization they provide many services not only to the community but to the organization as a whole. They help in the community in many ways through our many ministries, many focusing and working in a specific ministry. Together though our deacons work very well with the community through all ministries and all sections of the organization.
